Well, it’s been a while since I wrote anything on here, huh?
I’ve been a bit lax, I apologise. It’s been a busy and tough time of late, and I think I’ve struggled to get things started as I chase the ever elusive big successful project. But I think it’s time to update, really.
So, what’s been going on with me?
Well, for one thing, I’ve released a couple more books since the last update – as well as my first novel A Con Affair, I have released a collection of short stories called Imaginary Remains, which collects stories I found on my hard drives during the first pandemic lockdowns. These stories were some of the first I ever wrote, from way back during my time at university. They contain a multitude of different genres and styles than people might expect from me, but I thought it would be nice to share them, dusted off and ready for presentation, so people can see how I’ve grown as a writer.
I’ve also released a second novel, another m/m romance book and thus making the first novel I released the first in a series. The series is called Between the Panels, and will be queer romances set in and around the comics industry, but each one self-contained with it’s own characters, situations and themes. Some characters will crossover, allowing longtime readers the chance to check in with characters they love, but are otherwise entirely self-contained for those just after the one that speaks to them the most.
The second novel is Crisis of Infinite Boyfriends. This one follows a comics publishing intern, Jesse, who finds himself thrown into the deepend of putting together a major new release, something that could be a massive step in his career. For reasons, he decides this means he has to get the rest of his life in order too, which means finding ‘the one’. But when his life suddenly becomes a seemingly unending parade of meet-cute moments and a cavalcade of eligible, sexy and available options, just how is he supposed to choose? Can he make it all work, or will all the disparate worlds of his life collide and crash and burn? Only one way to find out.
As ever, you can get signed copies of my books direct from me via the online store, I just ask to bear in mind that sometimes I may need to replenish my own stock so delivery may be a little longer while I wait for copies myself. All are also readily available on Amazon/Kindle, and A Con Affair is also set up via IngramSpark, which means it can be ordered by your favourite bookstore too.
The comics side of my career has sadly pretty much stalled, so much so that I am still struggling to get the last two Kickstarters fully fulfilled. It hasn’t helped that I’ve had a major change in my personal health circumstances too, but more on that in the next paragraph. All that said, the follow up to the multi-award winning anthology, Young Men in Love, should be available in comic shops and bookstores next month! I’m massively proud of Young Men in Love: New Romance again, as we had a wonderful parade of amazing queer male and non-binary creators take part, and I hope that like the first collection, this too can be there for people wanting to see some positive stories out there, especially with the outside world the way it is.
Now, my health: unfortunately, starting November last year, my health took a major knock. At one point, I could barely stand or move around, and I found myself in an incredible amount of pain. After much investigation and back and forth, it was discovered I have developed Rheumatoid Arthritis. This has severely affected my mobility, my strength and caused massive financial stress on me. Honestly, it’s been very tough.
I am a lot better now, but certainly not back to what I was, and I am still trying to pull myself out of the financial hole it left me in. But I endure, and I’m back to writing as much as possible.
In fact, I am such a glutton for punishment, I am working on three new novels concurrently, which is…a juggling act, to say the least. But hey, my brain continues to burn through with ideas all the time, so I might as well take advantage of them while I can, eh?
Okay, that’s a brief (lol) update on where I’m at now, and where I’ve been. I’m hoping to keep getting more books out to you all soon, but in the meantime, I hope you al enjoy the romances I’ve been putting out into the world. And as always, I love you all for the continued support you’ve shown me.
Right, now to get back onto the books. Which one should I work on today, I wonder?
